Edme is without doubt Wedgwood’s most famous and most recognizable shape. Although the company was about to celebrate it’s 150th birthday, when Edme was designed in 1908, the simple classic shape and creamy color have become synonymous with the Wedgwood brand.
Edme was designed by John Goodwin for the French retailer Pannier Frères and was soon also sold by Wedgwood directly.
The popularity of Edme exploded in the post-war period, when it was bought by people looking for dinnerware that was both simple and formal and which could be used both entirely and on special occasions.
